Neal A. Jewell, M.D.
Dr. Neal Jewell received his undergraduate training from St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri and his medical degree from the St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis. HIs post graduate medical training consisted of an internship and an orthopaedic surgery residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery; the American College of Surgeons; the American Medical Association; and the Tennessee Medical Association. Dr Jewell has extensive experience in the treatment of spinal disorders, joint replacements and general orthopaedics.
John M. Chandler, M.D.
Dr. John Chandler received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences at Memphis. His post graduate medical training consisted of an internship at the City of Memphis Hospitals in Memphis. He completed a general surgery residency at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis with a fellowship in surgery of the hand with Dr. L.W. Milford. His is a member of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Chandler has extensive experience in hand and upper extremity surgery, joint replacements, and general orthopaedics.
Bert E. Tagert, M.D.
Dr. Bert Tagert received his undergraduate degree at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi and his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine at Gainesville, Florida. His post graduate medical training consisted of a residency in general surgery at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas and a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Tennessee Campbell Foundation at Memphis, Tennessee. This was followed by a fellowship in sports medicine at Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic at Columbus, Georgia. Dr. Tagert is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons; the Tennessee Medical Association; and the Sullivan County Medical Association. Dr. Tagert has extensive experience in surgery of the upper and lower extremities with a special interest in arthroscopic surgery, sports injuries, and shoulder surgery.
T. Lisle Whitman, M.D.
Dr. Lisle Whitman received his undergraduate training at Furman University and his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. His post graduate medical training consisted of a residency in general and orthopaedic surgery at the University of Virginia. His published works include "Transient Posterior Knee Pain with the Meniscal Arrow," and "Repair of Cortical Bone Defects with an Osteoprogenitor Cell Transfected with IGF-1". He also contributed to the text , "Surgical Recall". Dr. Whitman is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Christian Medical and Dental Associations. Dr. Whitman specializes in sports medicine, joint replacements, and treats all general orthopaedic problems.
Danny Mullins, M.D.
Dr. Danny Mullins received his undergraduate training from the University of Virginia at Wise in Wise, Virginia, and his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine at Charlottesville, Virginia. His post graduate medical training consisted of a residency in general and orthopaedic surgery at the University of Virginia. Dr. Mullins is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of the Virginia Orthopaedic Society, American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Mullins has extensive experience in upper and lower extremity surgery, joint replacements and sports injuries. He comes to us from Norton Hospital in Norton, Virginia.
Dr. Mullins resides in Bristol, Tennessee with his wife Amy and three boys, Wyatt, Carson, and Ryan. C. Glenn Trent, M.D.
Dr. Glenn Trent received his B.S. degree from Michigan State University in Electrical engineering. He is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed an Orthopaedic Residency at the Greenville Hospital System in Greenville S.C. After a year of private practice, he completed a Fellowship in Spinal Surgery at the University of Ottawa. Following the Fellowship, he returned to private practice in 1985 concentrating his practice to Orthopaedic Trauma and Spinal Surgery.
For the last ten years, Dr. Trent has limited his practice to Spinal Surgery. He and his wife, Marcia, live in Johnson City. Meet Our Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioner Brian Buxton, PA-C Mr. Buxton is originally from Atlanta, Georgia. He completed his undergraduate studies at Dekalb College and received his post graduate degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. All of his rotations and training were accomplished at the V.A. Hospital, University Hospital and Medical College in Augusta, Georgia. He relocated to Bristol, Tennessee in 1998 and joined Appalachian Orthopapaedic Associates in 2002. He provides evaluation and treatment of all types of orthopaedic issues. He enjoys the theater. Travis Williams, ACNP Mr. Williams received his undergraduate training and his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Tennessee State University. He attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia where he obtained his Master of Science Degree. Prior to working in the Orthopaedics field his past experience included Emergency Medicine/Critical Care. He is certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. He is a member of the American College of Nurse Practitioners as well as the Northeast Tennessee Nurse Practitioner Association. His special interests include management of acute/traumatic extremity injuries. Travis resides in Mt. Carmel, Tennessee. Larry Livengood, PA-C Mr. Livengood is originally from the Los Angeles area but has lived in Northeast Tennessee for the last three years. He attended Cal State Northridge for his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology/Athletic training. He then received a Masters in Education for sports medicine from Temple University in Philadelphia. After working as an athletic trainer for several years in Kentucky he attended the University of Kentucky in the Physician’s Assistant Studies Program. Professional interests include athletic injuries and rehabilitation techniques. Personal interests include movies, music, the arts, and body weight training.
