Background and Services
Appalachian Orthopaedics has provided services in the Tri-Cities area for more than 50 years. Dr. Sam Huddleston in Johnson City and Dr. Robert Strang, Sr., in Kingsport were the first orthopaedic doctors in those cities. In the late 1990s, three separate offices in Kingsport merged to form Appalachian Orthopaedics. Later, they in turn merged with two offices in Bristol, and finally with the Johnson City office in 2000. We pride ourselves on our local roots. While we have doctors trained in different parts of the country and with different specialties, we think of ourselves as your community doctors. Other doctors and groups have come and gone, but Appalachian Orthopaedics is committed to our community, and is available to you seven days a week, 24 hours per day. Our physicians are specially trained to provide complete care of your musuloskeletal system, which includes bones, joints, and muscles. We offer services in the following areas: General Orthopaedics Arthroscopic Surgery Sports Medicine Occupational Injuries Total Joint Replacement Hand & Wrist Problems Foot & Ankle Surgery Spine Surgery Fractures Orthopaedic Traumas

We are here for you...
You will be informed as fully as possible - and in words you can understand - about the scope of the medical care we plan for you, the limitations of these treatments, as well as alternative methods of care and their cost.
Your concerns are our concerns. We want you to feel comfortable enough to ask questions about your care and to discuss what's important to you.
Your time is precious. So we will do everything we can do to meet your needs in a timely, efficient way.
