Robert T. Strang, Jr. M.D.
Dr. Robert Strang, Jr. received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and his medical degree from University of Tennessee in Memphis. His post graduate medical training consisted of an internship at John Gaston Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee and an orthopaedic surgery residency at Campbell Clinic, University of Tennessee in Memphis. Dr. Strang is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Southern Medical Association, Tennessee Medical Association, and Tennessee Orthopaedic Association. Dr. Strang has extensive experience in joint replacement surgery, as well as general orthopaedics.
Galen R. Smith, M.D.
Dr. Galen R. Smith received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and his medical degree from L.S.U. Medical School in New Orleans. His post graduate medical training consisted of an internship in surgery at the University of Louisville in Kentucky and a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Campbell Clinic, University of Tennessee in Memphis. This was followed by a spine surgery fellowship at the Case Western Reserve Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Smith is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the Tennessee Orthopaedic Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society, Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma and American College of Surgeons. While specializing in spinal disorders, Dr. Smith also treats all general orthopaedic problems.
Dr. Smith is a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves and has served 3 month tours of duty in Iraq and Germany.
Daniel F. Klinar, M.D.
Dr. Daniel Klinar received his undergraduate degree from Davidson College, Davidson, North Carolina and his medical degree from Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. His post graduate medical training consisted of an internship and residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Darmouth, New Hampshire. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Campbell Foundation in Memphis Tennessee, and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Klinar has published in the American Journal of Orthopaedics and presented at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the Tennessee Medical Association. Dr. Klinar has extensive experience in joint replacement surgery and shoulder surgery as well as general orthopaedics.
Patrick J. Riggins, M.D.
Dr. Patrick Riggins received his undergraduate degree from University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida and his medical degree from University of Miami. His post graduate medical training consisted of an internship and orthopaedic residency at Orlando Regional Medical Center. This was followed by a sports medicine fellowship at the Jewett Orthopaedic Clinic in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Riggins is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has presented at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Southern Orthopaedic Association and the Florida Orthopaedic Society. Dr. Riggins is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. In addition to sports medicine, Dr. Riggins has experience in all phases of general orthopaedic surgery.
Jeffery J. France, M.D.
Dr. France is originally from Kingsport and a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School, where he played football. He did his undergraduate work at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and attended medical school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class. He performed his residency at Campbell Clinic in Memphis and is Board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. France's practice includes all areas of general orthopaedic surgery.
He lives in Kingsport with his wife, Vandi, and their girls Madeline and Kate.
Bruce M. Miller, M.D.
Dr. Bruce Miller obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of California Irvine and his medical degree at the Chicago Medical School. He performed both his internship and residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He was Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2003. For four years after completing his residency he worked with the Houston Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Associates, where he was the team physician for the Houston Aeros professional hockey team.
Dr. Miller's professional interests are general orthopaedic surgery including trauma, joint replacement and sports related injuries, of both children and adults.
Gregory E. Jeansonne, M.D.
Dr. Greg completed his Orthopaedic Residency at Tulane University, New Orleans in 2006, spending his final year with the Campbell Clinic in Memphis due to hurricane Katrina. He received his MD degree in 2001 from LSU, New Orleans. He also received BS degrees in Mechanical Engineering in 1994 & Zoology in 1990 from LSU, Baton Rouge, and an MBA in 1992 from Tulane. While at LSU, Baton Rouge he competed in the Pole Vault for the National Championship Track & Field team.
He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Tennessee Medical Association. He is active in Orthopaedic Trauma research and in developing new fracture treatment techniques. He enjoys all aspects of General Orthopaedics with special interests in Trauma & Joint Replacement.
He lives in Kingsport with his wife Susan, daughter Noel, and son Beau. He enjoys bowhunting, racquetball, swimming and weightlifting. C. Glenn Trent, M.D.
Dr. Glenn Trent received his B.S. degree from Michigan State University in Electrical engineering. He is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed an Orthopaedic Residency at the Greenville Hospital System in Greenville S.C. After a year of private practice, he completed a Fellowship in Spinal Surgery at the University of Ottawa. Following the Fellowship, he returned to private practice in 1985 concentrating his practice to Orthopaedic Trauma and Spinal Surgery.
For the last ten years, Dr. Trent has limited his practice to Spinal Surgery. He and his wife, Marcia, live in Johnson City. B.K. Parsley, M.D. Dr. B. K. Parsley,from Smithville, Tennessee, did his undergraduate work at BelmontUniversity,graduated from University of Tennessee Medical School and completed his orthopaedic residency at Southern Illinois University. While Dr. Parsley enjoys all aspects of general orthopaedics, his special interest in shoulder injuries and problems led to a one year shoulder fellowship with Dr. Stephen Burkhart, in San Antonio, Texas. This additional training allows Dr. Parsley to manage challenging problems of the shoulder, with arthroscopic shoulder repair, as well as shoulder reconstruction. Meet our Physician Assistants Jill Henritze, PA-C Ms. Henritze is a native of Grundy, Virginia, but has lived and worked as a PA in Northeast Tennessee since 2003. She is a graduate of the Jefferson College of Health Sciences Physician Assistant Program in Roanoke, VA. She attended the Norwalk/Yale PA Surgical Residency Program after graduating from Jefferson College. She has been working with Appalachian Orthopaedic Associates since 2006 and enjoys treating general orthopaedic and sports medicine injuries. Brandon Jones, PA-C Mr. Jones is a native of East Tennessee. He graduated from ETSU with a degree in Healthcare Administration and attended PA school at Jefferson College of Health Sciences in Roanoke, VA. Brandon joined Appalachian Orthopaedic Associates in 2007 and treats all general orthopaedic problems. He has a huge interest in sports medicine and spends Sundays watching the TN Titans. John Henritze, PA-C Mr. Henritze was born and raised in Roanoke, VA. He attained a Bachelor of Science in Health, Fitness and Recreational Resources, specializing in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. While there, John became interested in a career in medicine and worked as a Physical Therapist Aide while attending GMU. He moved back to Roanoke to attend Jefferson College of Health Sciences and received a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant studies in 2001. While attending Jefferson College, John was the Associate Athletic Trainer at Patrick Henry High School. He has always enjoyed sports medicine and orthopaedics and started work in orthopaedics in 2006. He joined Appalachian Orthopaedic Associates in January, 2008.
